For users that need a photo manipulation tool and do not want to spend hundreds of dollars, Paint.NET could be the perfect fit. Paint.NET is a free program that can be downloaded online and used without restriction. Unless users have very specific needs that are very difficult to address, this tool can help with any the manipulation of an image.

Interface and Ease of Use

Paint.NET has the same basic setup as Paint, which is a program that can be found on most computers. All of the normal options are at the top in the menu section. It is easy to get the program installed and just as easy to use it once it is on a computer.

When there is a need to import photos, users will find this to be a simple process as well. Actually, there are a couple of different options that can be used when users want to import photos. One of those options is to use the File > Open option. This will allow users to pull files from their computers. The File > Acquire option lets users pull files off of a camera or off of a scanner. The only challenge with Paint.NET is that once the images are uploaded onto the software, they can’t be organized as some programs allow.

There are plenty of edits and shapes available with Paint.NET, such as brushes for creating shapes, an easy to use curve tool and much more. The Clone Stamp feature is considerably popular with users since they can clone one part of a photo and overlay it on another part. This would be helpful if there was something in the photo that needed to be hidden, but the user did not want to crop the photo or draw over it.

When users choose to export an image, it can be sent to a printer; however, there is no share option. If users want to send an image to one of the media sites, this is not possible. There are, however, options to save the file in different formats, but the RAW file will not be available.

Is Paint.NET Worth Your Time?

Since Paint.NET is a free program and has plenty of different features that can be very helpful, this program is more than worth anyone’s time. This is especially true if a person does not want to spend money on a photo manipulation tool. It is easy to use, free and has just about any image option that a user could want.
